SORENESS. Friend or Foe?

I really do love waking up and feeling sore. I do. Call me a masochist. Whatever. The soreness we experience after workouts are really the body’s natural response to pushing yourself to a higher level of physical activity than it’s normally used to, and a part of our body’s normal process of adaptation. This is an amazing progression in which our body breaks down, then starts the recovery process, heals and rebuilds. As a result, we get stronger (the process of building muscle). We will notice that the soreness usually hits you the second day after your physical activity (DOMS-"Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and after a day or so of uncomfortable soreness, you get progressively better and soon return to feeling your normal self. So this is something that I love to feel-BUT! If the soreness is messing with your sleep patters, you are angry all the time, you lack appetite-THAN it can lead to overtraining. That's a whole 'nother beast so I suggest you let Google help you with that. The following pic is something I won't do. Not that I CAN'T DO IT, because I CAN, (not really), but I still think it's a cool pic. Plus I would be worried about getting ran over. And that would definitely make me sore.
OK-so today is my oldest daughter's graduation day from 4th grade! Bring on the Summer sand and water. Will post more pics laters. -DB

Forgot to post Day 19! But here we are Day 20!

OK-so totally forgot to post yesterday. It was one of those days I didn't even have time to wipe my butt. It went by SO FAST. I swear I spend so much time in the kitchen, not just for me, but for my family too. This Reset messes with you. I am not a cook. But now I swear I'm like a healthy version of Emeral whateverhisnameis. So I start cooking healthy shiz for my husband and my kids. Like from scratch. Since I'm vegan now, I don't eat eggs. So, I thought to myself, F this: my kids are going to eat super healthy too! STARTING NOW. So thinking on to breakfast, last night I prepare their breakfast and cook it. It was organic buckwheat pancakes. It called for eggs. So I google the crap out of "egg substitues for pancakes" and I find it. The answer. 1 egg=1/4 cup applesauce and half of a banana smashed. Well I had that, but no the actual apple sauce. So I TOTALLY MADE MY OWN APPLESAUCE. I don't know who I am anymore. I was hellbent on getting them to eat these effing pancakes the next day. I added some stevia for good measure. They don't what that is except it makes it sweeter without adding nasty shit to it. Holy balls. BOTH KIDS ATE IT UP THIS MORNING like it was their job. I even put some mashed apple sauce on top for a "topping" like all IHOP syle. But healthy. OK enough on that. Day 20 is here. I feel fantastic. I can't believe it's almost over. I woke up a pound lighter. Making that 15 lbs lost in 20 days. NUTS. This was such a learning experience, and I can't wait to do a VIDEO recap of my whole journey, and my feelings week to week. That's right. It's all going down and I'm going to explain all the good parts, and all the not so good parts. Just know it was ALL WORTH IT! I feel brand new. And I like that. Gotta make lunch! DB

Goodnight Day 15...

Today was good! I worked, I rested up, I ate all my meals precisely, and now my 4 year old is falling asleep on me. Life is good. Jason went out fishing today and now he is out at Whole Foods getting some stuff I was running out of, food wise. Thank heavens. A bit tired today, no little PM snooze, but I know I'll sleep good tonight. Tomorrow is going to be TOUGH. I have to attend a HUGE Cinco De Mayo party with 4000 people, and being a Charleston Socialite-I gotta be there and represent. VIP: OH YEAH!
Free drinks all around-lots of tequiila-(my FAVE) and me no can't drink. Well, poop. I'm ok though. I'm going to pack my Ultimate Reset dinner and bring it with me; yep-and eat it in the car, or straight up in VIP. Honey Badger don't care. Honey Badger will roll into that party with my purse and tupperware.
Time for night night-DB

sort of not health related

Today I had a panick attack. This morning specifically.

Something triggered me.
Now, I haven't had one in a LONG TIME...but sometimes, it does happen. I can't get my breath, I start shaking, I feel like the world is going to end, I feel like I am going to die, and I eventually need medicine to calm me the F down. I have medicine on hand if I ever need it. Sometimes there are things that happen that holistic care just can't take care of, unfortunately. I will say though that after getting healthier-they have lessened ALOT. But when they do happen-I am ready with medicine specfifically for this. And I have to lay down, for a long time. It sucks, and I hate them. But everyone has their issues, and I'm not going to pretend life is great all the time, because it's not. There are ways to present yourself to the world that is honest and relateable, and even in a positive way. Not the "woe is me" but more like "wow, this happened to me today, can a sister get some support?" And I move on...eventually (after meds wear off).

I missed my hair appt today. Which sucks because my hair is a lions mane right now-but I know I could get it done whenever. It's just hair. I think I may have had a dentist appt too today. But whatever, it's just teeth. Plus, it gives me more time to floss and make the dentist think I floss all the time, when in reality, I only floss the week before the appt. Don't judge.

So yeah, this is me, not perfect, not shiny. And I will never portray that I am. I am glad I did my workout early this morning, because Lord knows I wouldn't do it now. Another plus to early morning workouts-you never know when a panick attack is going to ruin your day, so better get it out of the way. I probably spelled a million things wrong in this post. Whatever.

I'll blog when I'm more coherent. who knows.
Bye for now. DB

Alana Graduates 3rd Grade!

Thank God.

So proud of this little bugger. I can still remember when she got me fat as a cow when I was preg with her, and I can still remember being called to the school when she did something "not fitting a Christian school." Oh for the love. We're normal-not perfect. But I do love her school-it's a good balance of faith, learning, and manners. Our job as parents are to tell her she doesn't have to live to a certain standard of living that the school may put out there-and that it is SO OKAY to be different. And also if someone ever hits her it's ok to kick him or her in the kidneys or balls (if applicable) as hard as she can. Don't judge. But just make sure that you pray before bedtime and talk to Jesus alot. That's what I call (in this fam) a well rounded individual. She also get's me a beer out of the fridge-AND EVEN will take the bottlecap off-and AND use the bottle opener if it's not a twist off. That's what I call a good kid. She also can read really friggin well. Proof:
See? We're not all beer and kidney punching. We do teach our kids, as well as making sure Alana has excellent grades, and excels in her faith.
Also-we are passing down the gift of physical fitness-more proof she is made of amazesauce:
The award I am MOST PROUD of. Dont' judge.

And last BUT certaintly not least: She gets the best award ever. MOST SOCIAL. Because we all know the extroverts are the most successfull in life. Ok I just made that up. But whatever. I like that she ain't scared to talk to anyone (that's not crazy), and will stand up for herself. And she has the loudest voice known to man, with an attitude to match.

What's even more hilarious-Jason had to leave early to go to court. For a speeding ticket. SMH.

Alana, you are my heartsong. I know I will write about you until the day I leave this earth. Until then, be strong, be confident, and be brave. Stay strong in your faith. And in your abilities that you know how to fight. And soon I get to show you how to shoot a gun. Watch out boys.

Almost done...

3 more days. 3 MORE DAYS. Asylum. I don't really have the energy to give you a pretty picture to display my feelings right now. All I know is that I had Verticle Plyo today and I sharted. That's how hard I pushed. Pun intended.

I'm going to take a shower, and do absolutely nothing for the rest of the day, but eat and tell my kids to do everything for me. I'm that kind of mom. Whatever. All I know is I had it aLOT harder when I was 9 years old. I even tell my 3 year old to throw away stuff for me, get things for me, etc. And she LOVES to do it. My 9 year old...notsomuch. If I even have to scratch my butt today-Alana is going to do it.

3 MORE DAYS! And then "Relief" week comes-HOORAY! Plus-I GET MY "I'M DONE WITH THIS HELL" TSHIRT. (ok it's not really called that but it should be). I'm all about the free sh*t.

Small Groups, and Growing up

Are VITAL if you want to keep accountable and keep your faith 'tank' full. I have to admit though, I am not apart of one :( at the moment! But we are looking, and we are going on a marriage retreat in a couple weeks! woot! Can't wait! :)

I remember our last small group. It was good....up until a point. It started to be more of a social group, than Godly. It wasn't moving forward. We had some good groups, but unfortunately ugly gossip intruded and screwed everything up. I did have to cut out toxic "friends," but it was definitely for the better. Sometimes I feel sad about how things turned out, but I look at everything now...and it is so much better! My marriage is better. The friends I have now encourage me to live a more Godly and spiritual life. My whole family dynamic is drastically different--I know now that I'm not a "youngin'" anymore and I had to grow up. Growing up doesn't mean you have to get boring, it just means you have to prioritize your life and take action. If it's not making you better-it's making you worse. If those "friends" don't encourage your growth, than it's time to cut them out. When your momma said, "You are who you hang with" or something to that extent...she was right! I have 2 beautiful daughter's who look at me like I'm the best mother in the world. And when my friends come over, they rub off on my kids in such a great way. Being a mother changes things-but for me-it changed everything. My daughters, My husband..absolutely saved my life. So, if you find yourself stuck, if you find yourself with low self esteem, if you have people trying to feed negativity into your life....take a good look around you. It could be the friends you have in your life right now. We need to all have people in our lives that "build us up" always, and not tear us down. I hope and pray as mothers, as wives, that we all continue to GROW UP and prioritize our lives. Fun can always be had, but we don't have to always act like we are 18 years old. I've learned that, and continue to learn that. Learning never stops. We need to take action on our lives and force it to be better. We have one chance to make it right with God, we have one lifetime to live the life that we were meant to live. We have one life to make God smile. Let's make him smile today.

I am in a "special place"

And what I mean by that, is that it's both negative and postive.

Things are just crazy right now. I've been on QVC, I am a fulltime Beachbody Coach that is picking up alot of steam (wahoo!), I just won a $1,000 for getting healthy, and the family dynamic is great. Some things that I struggle with (and I'm just being transparent), is God time. The number one thing in life, THAT I NEED, that my heart CRAVES...I slack. Yup, I said it. Thankfully, our GOD is one of grace and mercy, and HE knows I'm not perfect (phew!) and I can "jump back" in the game when I get my sh*t together. Sorry for the vulgurness, but ya know, that's who I am. I used to be alot worse, and with God's help I'm SO much better! With Grace, Family, Friends, Love, <--not in any particular order..I am saved and forgiven by HIM. What a relief! So, if you have any ideas on how to better myself in that area-I'm all ears! I need help just like anybody! I do get God time during workouts-what I'm doing now is putting the workouts on mute (sorry Shaun T and Tony H!) and listening to my Ipod. And it's usually worship playing. And ALOT of praying goes on, especially during globe twists, LOL.

So anywho-I love my readers, and I think ya'll are awesome. I need to post more often, and right now my husband is giving me the "stink eye" for me to get off the computer because it's nearing 5pm when we "try" to go offline...he he. So until next time..Let's all focus on HIM, balance in our lives, and LOVE.

Life Happens

I usually only blog when I feel inspired, or if I'm ticked off about something. Today, will be a little bit of both.

First off-Glory to God in His Highest. Without Him, I would be a useless moron who acts only on emotion. I would probably be in jail or dead if it weren't for Him saving me.

Secondly-The promise of resisting the devil, and him fleeing from you-really is true and does work! Yeah, I know, we read it all the time, but do we believe it? I've had some experiences play out in the past week that were really rough, and I faltered. I played into the devil's evil intentions of trying to make me feel helpless-and I believed him, for a short while. Then I was like, NO! I will resist, I will not let words of anger or derangement come out of my mouth even when someone is directing the most hateful words and intentions towards me. I carefully monitored every single word that came out of my mouth and asked for the Holy Spirit's help--and you know what? The devil fleed. AMEN to that! Satan comes to seek and destroy, even through family members or friends. Being a Christ follower doesn't mean you will have no troubles-in fact your troubles may triple! We just have to persevere through it and show that we can gain character, because that is exactly what happens. Every obstacle that we overcome through Christ Jesus will give us more strength to make it through the next obstacle we come in contact with.

Lastly-I am KILLING it, with the workouts. You like my transition there? LOL. I think alot of us make a bunch of lame excuses as to not get in shape. They compare themselves to other people. "Why don't I have a sixpack" or "Why do I have cellulite." Wah, Wah, Wah. Think for a second if the way you looked had nothing to do with working out. Would you still do it? What if the only benefit was how you felt inside? How about then? What if working out was the only way to prevent the type 2 diabetes that runs in your family? Or heart disease? Or depression? Would you do it then, even if you still had a fat butt and no six pack in sight. Well I hope to God your answer is YES I would-because that is THE heart of the matter. Yes, working out has what I like to call "fringe" benefits of the nice stomach, butt, thighs, muscles, etc. But we can't do it just for that. We MUST do it for our internal health and wellbeing mentally as well. If you don't workout at all, and you eat crap food all day, you will never be 100% satisfied with life or the way you feel about yourself. PERIOD. And if you think you can get by without it, you are sorely mistaken and are just simply lying to yourself. Anyways, I just wanted to let you guys know, that I feel great. Mentally and physically. It really doesn't get better than this-to feel this way even after having kids. Yeah, we all get in a funk sometimes no matter what-but IT IS UP TO YOU AND NO ON ELSE-if you let yourself get out of it and get on with your life, and live the life you were meant to live.

Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Staying Positive

Sometimes people will say things that are mean, they talk behind your back, and they try to defame your character. We all go through this. I have learned that these are "Godly" moments in my life that teach me to be a more positive, compassionate person. I will never know why people do or say the things they do, but Jesus does, and I just have to trust in that. Hopefully character will win out in all situations.

That being said, keeping a positive attitude towards everything, changes everything. It's amazing really. Today I just prayed and prayed, and realized that you know what, I can't understand everything. I can't control anything. God has his hand on ALL OF IT. God is HUGE, And our problems are SMALL. Every moment I have on this earth, I thank God for, and every moment I have with my family, I thank God for. Life happens..it isn't always perfect..never will be, and that.is.ok.with.ME! I thank you Lord for GRACE and understanding, and for the power you have. Who am I, who are others, to stand in your way? YOU.GOT.THIS.

You know I gotta wrap it up with health somehow, :P. Negativity can RUIN your health. Studies show it. Dr's will even say it.Being happy, being truly, truly, happy, is a daily decision made by YOU. If you choose to be that dreary, mad, angry person, that is--unfortunately your choice. Make the decision to be a healthier YOU by being a more positive YOU. What a great way to start ANY fitness journey that will last a lifetime.

Crazy day! But a GREAT one at that..

So I will not go into specifics, but today has been nuts for me, but has finally settled down once my hubby comes home. He is my rock and helps me put things into perspective. When negativity enters your life-sometimes you just have to "surgically" remove those things or people. Yes, it can be hard and harsh. But if it serves your family and yourself better-than THAT is what matters most in life. It's better to have 1 or 2 people close to you that have depth and make you a better person and make you feel better about yourself, than to have a bunch of random, high maintenance friends who leave you feeling empty inside. I talked to "my person" and she reminded me of God's love for us, and how we need to live at "peace with everyone" but not be best friends with every single person that is in our life. She also reminded me it's ok to "cut out" the crazies if it's for the better. I love my "inner circle" because they accept me as who I am, don't judge me, and truly love me and care. I thank God for them dearly.

I ended my early evening with KenpoCardioX-and let's just say that is a GREAT stress buster! Who doesn't like to kick and punch the frustrations away?! Let's just say at the end, I felt like a new woman. My sights are set on the prize..the right prize this time.

Not fitness related: Reality TV is poisen for Families

Case in Point-The Gosselins. This is my opinion, so you can take it as you want.

The popular reality TV show, "John and Kate plus 8" on TLC USED to be one of my faves, and also a good family show to watch. Recently, in their highest rated TV show ever, with almost 10 million viewers-I watched a family fall apart. They sat on different couches to talk, and at the end when they were on the chair together...let's just say the body language speaks everything. What I noticed that Kate was saying over and over again, was that "she lives and breathes for her kids, they are the reason I get up in the mornings, my life is all about them, #1.." and so on. THAT is the first mistake right there. I'm no expert, by any means, but I do not think that in a family environment the kids should come first. Your spouse should absolutely come first, and family dynamic will naturally fall into place. It's just a tried and true statistically speaking fact, (and biblical, I might add, which surprises me since Kate speaks at churches alot). Children CRAVE a strong parental unit, and if they see that it is always intact, and never separating, they will feel more safe and loved in the end, because they know that their homelife will never be disrupted or torn apart. All I saw on that show was Kate (excuse my french, I'm not perfect!) being a major beotch on TV, even to her children. John (not making excuses for him) was very mellow, and just trying to fair under her constant controlling ways. Of course nobody knows everything that is going on under the scenes, but come on, they ARE on a reality show, so viewers get to see ALOT. It saddens me that the children have to go through something so horrific and so public, and I just wish they would have said no to the initial offer to be on one. Maybe it would have turned out different for them. I think a solid family unit is worth more than all the money in the world than speaking engagements and a TV show could offer them, ever. I just hope and pray that they put their marriage first, and kids second, and to not just throw it away.

Just my rant for the moment. :)

Have a blessed Sunday!

In case you were dying to know! LOL

630am-wake up, get Alana ready for school, Jason gives Isa her first bottle
7am-drink my herbal tea, followed by my breakfast=Shakeology.
715am-wave Jason and Alana off-they won't be back until much later.
715-845-play time with Isabel
850-9am-2nd bottle for Isabel

10-11am-I workout while she sleeps, then catch up on emails, and do household cleaning, and/or laundry.
12pm-Isabel's up-she eats lunch
1230pm-put her down on floor to play so momma can eat lunch too.
1-3pm-Play time again, the park, pool, or a stroller ride. Maybe run some errands, or meet up with friends and network. Sometimes we just stay inside if the weather is bad, and I'll network from home while she plays with her toys.
315pm-Alana is back from school.
320pm-Alana gets a snack, and I set her up to do her homework.
330-430pm-Isabel goes down for second nap while Alana goes outside to play.
430-5pm-Isabel wakes up.
530pm-Jason comes home!
530-6pm-Jason plays with Isa and Alana, then does 10 minute trainer, then takes a shower while I watch the kids.
6-7pm-Make and serve dinner
7-8pm-Play time as family

8-9pm-Isabel winds down for the night, has her last bottle.

Start over next day!

That's a typical Monday through Friday routine for the Bean Household, variations do occur occasionally, because that's life! I love it!

No shower today

So I usually do my workout/shower during Isabel's first nap. She's usually down for at least 1.5 hours, but since the dang mowers are SO loud (can't complain too much, they do mow our grass!) she woke up a bit early, 30 minutes or so shorter than usual. So I had to do the fake "get ready for the day." Since I was all sweaty from my workout, I changed my clothes, washed my face, put my hair in a ponytail, and a dab of makeup and some deoderant. OH and some perfume to hide my BO from my workout. I know, I can hear all your "Ewwwww's" from here, but spare me, some days are just like that when you have a little one, and I'm the only one at home. So I just gotta wait for the hubby to come home until I can shower, at 5pm. ::sigh:: Time to feed the baby! :)

Week 6 of the +

Well today was the awesome Upper + and abs/core workout-which I absolutely love! Today was different though...I was able to UP the weight almost on every move, it totally shocked me, I was using my 20 lb dumbbells for almost everything, and barely using an assist on the bar (except for the L's and the 7 point pull-up..that thing is CRAZY!). I am definitely noticing a difference in my arms, and especially my back and legs. Pretty much everything! That's what I love about this program. It just SCREAMS results! And let's face it-if you're not getting results-you are not going to stick to a goal or program. The programs with BeachBody are DIFFERENT, so if you are looking to really make a change in yourself, in your health, and maybe financially...then let me know. I LOVE this business, and I can tell you that they really take care of their "peeps." :)

In Him and Health-Demi

P.S. Isabel is ROCKING an awesome sleep routine! She's finally really back into the groove, sleeping from 830ish until 630ish, and taking 2 naps again, finally! And sometimes the naps are 2 hours! Crazy. I gotta say-I am loving this age, she is just so darn funny and cute, and every day she surprises us with something new. She still can't say "mama", but can pretty much say every other consonant, and even says "lana" for Alana of course. All day long, I'm like, "MOMMMMMA!" HAHA.

Alana has gotten an "E" (for behaviour, stands for "excellent") every day this month at school, and we are SO proud of her. She had some bad marks in the past month for talking during class, so she got all that straightened out. She told me she wants to get an E every day until she graduates! Go ahead girl! She is just growing up so quickly, and sometimes she teaches me new things. It's amazing. She loves Jesus so much too, genuinely, which makes us even prouder as parents that we were able to bring her up that way. We went to Barnes and Noble to get a more age appropriate bible for her, and she loves it! She reads to us now, every night, instead of us reading to her. We are truly blessed with our children and our family. Jason is such a good teacher and father, and I thank God for them every day!

Mondays..I think I'm just wierd

But I actually look forward to the "work" week. There is solitude in being with the kids, and keeping things nice, quiet and settled. I feel like I need that after a crazy, loud, Thanksgiving holiday. Our families..are just different..we get way too overexcited when we're together and then we drink too much which is why I think I'm going to fast that out of my body for a little while. Some things are better left out of your life for a time of cleansing and healing.

So you know that I try to be as transparant as possible, and that my posts aren't always so "jolly"-no pun intended. But if you pray, say a prayer for me and Jason. It's been a rough year for him, for us, and for our marriage. Particularly the latter. I know that things were different before I came into his life, they were better in certain ways. But then he met me..and let's just say, things changed! Some for the better, and some not. And then alot of the times the enemy uses that to put a good dose of guilt and depression to get me down. I'm definately in the down.

Good news is that I can only go up. My husband tells me that no matter what-he won't stop loving me. He won't let me push him away. He won't stop praying for me. It's pretty indescribable. Sounds alot like Jesus.

A popular prayer with me right now, is "Lord, make me a better wife, a better mother, change me in whatever way you see fit." Jason prayed the holy spirit into me this morning-and I felt it. He had asked me if I wanted some prayer. Me, in all my ignorance, said, no. He did it anyway. Thank the Lord he did.

I will hold on to this now. I need to hold on to this now. I need to claim it right now.

"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance brings character; and character brings hope."

(Romans 5;3-4)
