Day 13 Ultimate Reset Wrap up..

I HAVE LOST ALMOST 10 POUNDS. IN 13 DAYS. That sh*t is bananas. I have been eating 3 meals a day (delicious meals, at that), plus an optional snack (some days I have it, some days I don't). Plus alot of water and some supplements that help oxygenate your blood and keep your intestinal flora super healthy. OH and I can't forget that alkanize. **shudders** I mean, it's not that bad. Maybe it is. I just chug it down as quick as I can. It's like liquid gr-ass in 4 oz's of water. But it's good for you, so I'm going to take it like a champ everyday (that's what she said). Alkaline=good and healthy. Being Acidic=disease and illness and you may die very soon. I don't want to be acidic. I want to be alkaline. Gr-ass drink and all everyday. p.s. Google that if you don't know what I mean. It's very science-y and it's just too much to write. Plus I don't understand alot of that. Tomorrow is Day 14! It's almost going by super fast. I have a Cinco De Mayo Celebration that I will be attending along with 4000 other party animals (I'm a Top Socialite in Charleston; I don't really know what it means, but it does mean I get to go to alot parties, VIP all the way!)...that might be a little tough, but I'm sure I can do it and go through with no booze or snacks. I've come this far, I just have to. I did tell myself if I was miserable I would allow myself one drink that I would sip S-L-O-W-L-Y. And then have more Alkanize a.k.a gr-ass when I get home. :) WIN WIN. Till tomorrow..DB

OUCH!

Broken noses, fractured bones, smashed fingers, smooshed toes, bonked heads and banged knees — is there anything you guys haven't managed to injure while working out? In response to an msnbc.com story on bizarre gym injuries, readers sent in your own stories about falling off treadmills and dropping dumbbells on toes.

Turns out, even the pros fall prey to health club clumsiness.

"I teach classes and before each one, I tell the members about the 'Fall Out Zone,' to leave yourself room to fall without injury. One morning I did not follow my own advice. I fell, butt down on a weight," writes reader Mare, who lives in Dallas. "I finished the class smiling, walked calmly to the restroom and tossed my cookies. I have never been in such pain, nor has my rear ever been so many colors."

"Back in the '70s the gym had rollers that you would sit on or kneel next to. I was kneeling next to one and I put my head down to rest it on my arms, my hair was shoulder length....you can probably guess what happened next... my hair got wrapped around the rollers! I thought I was going to get my scalp ripped off. I was able to turn the machine off quick enough, but it took quite a while to unravel my hair from the machine!"
— Debbie, Omaha, Neb.

"I was at the gym and noticed that the White Sox game was playing on a TV above a treadmill. I walked up to the treadmill to see the score. Apparently, someone had left the treadmill on a runners pace and before I had a chance to realize this, the tip of my foot hit the running tread and I was flung forward (face-first) into the hard plastic and then was dragged back to the end of it. I ended up with a broken nose, a fat lip of Octomom proportions, several facial lacerations and two bruised knees."
— Lara T., Chicago

"Yes, many years ago I lost my footing on a treadmill and scraped my shin. I was an experienced gym-goer by that time. I had a long scab of several inches as a reminder for awhile. The most embarrassing was simply slipping on the stairs leading up to the workout floor — witnessed by many people — who always asked about me for the next several weeks — I had a large blue bruise on my entire right thigh as proof of my fall!"
— Anonymous

"I was working out one Sunday on the chest press machine. I had about 200 pounds on it and about the fifth rep the rubber hand grip slipped off the handle and the bar slammed into my biceps. Not fun at all."
— Robert Ort, Mystic, Conn.

"I have had one surgery on each knee to help secure my knee caps from dislocating. It only helped a little. During one training session I was doing BICEPS CURLS and I must have tried to re-adjust my footing and twisted awkwardly and dislocated my knee cap! Took almost 7 months to recover."
— Kyle, St. Paul, Minn.

"I didn't really have a weird injury, but MAN did it hurt! I was seated on a small bench doing dumbbell presses, with a 40 pound. dumbbell in each hand. On the last repetition of the set, I lost my balance, didn't let go of the dumbbell in time, and my right shoulder hyper-abducted as the dumbbell finally crashed to the floor. What came from my rotator cuff along the way sounded like a phone book being ripped. It still hasn't healed and that was several years ago."
— Charles Weaver, Albuquerque, N.M.

"I was stepping on the side of the treadmill and put my foot directly on the moving belt, I fell on my back and scraped my arm, thought I broke my finger. My pride was damaged more than anything."
— Elaine, Boston

"It really wasn't my fault. Someone left the treadmill running and I stepped on it and I flew off. *BAHAHA! TOTALLY YOUR FAULT GF!!*I had people ask me didn't I look to see that it was running. I told them you expect a treadmill to be turned on but not running. Whoever was last on it didn't make sure it stopped when they got off. So now I do look to see if an empty treadmill is running or not. *SMART OF YOU* That's my one and only accident ever on a piece of fitness equipment."
— Sharon, Lynnwood, Wash.

"In November of last year, I was on the stairmaster for the second time ever. I'm an experienced elliptical trainer and stationary cyclist. I was gabbing with the woman on the machine next to me and wasn't paying attention while I was trying to get off the machine. I mis-judged the steps and fell down hard. I thought it was just a sprain and sheepishly limped out of the gym. When I couldn't walk the next morning, I decided to get it x-rayed. I fractured my tibia!"
— Eileen, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

"A few weeks ago while walking into the gym I was on my phone and when I was done I walking onto an empty treadmill but I was putting my phone on silence and didn't realize the treadmill had been left on so I stepped onto a running treadmill. What made it worse was that I didn't realize what was happening, thought I just tripped, so I tried to get up making it a lot worse. I had nasty strawberries on my right shin and knee, 4 strawberries on my left knee and my entire knee turned black and blue, the bottom of my left wrist was black and blue, the top of my right pinky and the side of my hand were burned and my entire pinky was black and blue. I thought I broke it. Needless to say, I am very careful about stepping onto a treadmill now."
— Christy Jensen, Springboro, Ohio

"I broke a toe falling off a treadmill. I've fallen reaching for the cap to my bottled water — fearful of causing the cap to trip someone else. I've hit myself with the Bowflex resistance bars. And today I slapped myself upside the head while putting on my Bose earphones and climbing a hill at the same time on my treadmill."
— Anonymous, Auburn, Calif.

"In 2006, returning to the gym after a spinal fusion, I broke my wrist on the elliptical machine! Bear in mind, I have been a 5 day a week gym goer for more than ten years, and before surgery the elliptical was my choice of cardio machine everyday! This time I obviously was not focused on what I was doing; I had a grip on the stationary handles and looked behind me at some distraction at which time my fingers sort of flared up and the handle caught them bending them backwards and in a sort of twisting motion, I instantly felt a crack and pretty intense pain and knew immediately that I had broken my wrist! I was gripping tightly with my thumb apparently and if I had released my grip I don't think the damage would have been so bad! I didn't even tell anyone till the next day and the manager was incredulous that it could happen; in fact, he got in touch with the manufacturer and they hadn't heard of it before! Or maybe they didn't want to admit it! It taught me one thing though, be aware of what you're doing and those elliptical handles are not as innocent looking as they appear — they pack some force behind them!"
— Anonymous, Sulphur, La.

"I was using resistance bands strapped to a pole in the gym. Somehow one of the bands came loose, snapped back, and twirled around my neck until it wound all the way up leaving me in disbelief and shame. There were two very attractive women standing near who tried not to laugh but eventually burst into laughter. Needles to say, now I work out at home." <--*SMART MAN*
— Jay, Auburn, Ala.

**MY OWN FITNESS OUCH CONFESSION**
I was doing weighted squats with the Smith machine back in my gym days. I didn't really know how to use it right, and I was trying to figure out how to slip the bar back on the rack. When I finally realized that I had to rotate the bar forward, and then it would latch, I was already on the floor from tweaking my back. Couldn't get up. I somehow hobbled out to my truck outside, and then I REALLY couldn't move. Managed to get my phone and call my husband to get me, and he layed me out in the back seat. I had to pee really bad throughout all of this. I did pee. In the car. Poor husband.

It's YOU

It's not your mother or your father. Not your sister or your brother. It's not your God or your Government. It's not the high school bully or your eighth grade home room teacher. It's not your therapist or your wife or your boyfriend. It's not luck or even circumstance. It's not your height, weight or age that makes life great, or not. It's You! It's you that makes you happy or sad. It's you that makes you smart or stupid. It's you that eats right or not. It's you that chooses to exercise or to sit on your ass. It's you who puts the cigarette in your mouth. It's you that yells at your 3 year old daughter. It's you that doesn't have patience when you need it. Your parents created you, but it's you that decides to make something of yourself. Point the finger in the mirror because that image before you is the only creature on earth that can guarantee happiness, fitness, health, love, joy, purpose and a state of well being. Hoping and wishing that everyone and everything else is going to bring you a better life is a farce and a fantasy.

When you learn how to rely on yourself, you discover that it's not really about you anyway. When you finally stop relying on others for your happiness and blaming them when it doesn't happen you'll see life for what it really is. A community where we help each other. The transition from "me and my problems" to "how can I help." is easier for some than others, but it needs to happen if you want a full and happy life. You have to get your act together because important people in your life need you. They need you to be thoughtful and trustworthy. They want you to listen and NOT give advice unless they ask. They hope you'll be patient, caring and understanding. If you pull this off you'll also learn than perfect strangers are willing to listen to you, because you'll have something they want. You'll have the formula for a good life. A happy life. A healthy life. You will not longer need to rely on others for your happiness because your happiness will come from helping others.

JULY 13TH FOR INSANITY!

Trust me on this one thing: You WILL need a coach to get through this program.

This is one of the hardest cardio programs I have ever seen in my life. I have seen and done some previews of it, and let me tell ya-if you don't puke your first time, I'm impressed. It's a 60 day program, guaranteed to lean you out like WHAT!

Now, don't forget about that muscle now. Tony Horton will always be #1 in my book for all around fitness...BUT just make sure you are incorporating a strength training program either before, or after. Some crazies like myself will be incorporating the Insanity programs with P90X, or P90X+..and you can do that too. Instead of doing say, plyometrics one day, do an Insanity Cardio circuit.

Mark your calenders. Get even more lean and ripped. Get it through a coach on July 13th.. There is no other way!

It is NOT all about the LB's...

But I weighed myself for the first time in FOREVER, and I am now 120 lbs, still hovering at 8-9 % bodyfat (calipers), and I feel GREAT! I thought I was really around 125-130, just because of the muscle. I think P90X+ has really "shredded" things up a bit and made my stubborn body fat in certain places finally go away, which is great! I'm stoked that the bodyfat % has stayed the same, because that is all that matters! I have been as low at 6 % before (heLLO, I was in the Marines!) for a steady 4 years, and I felt really great, and I loved how my body looked. So I am pretty much in my happy place! :)

If you want to be in your "happy place," I or my husband CAN help you get there. We live in a day where you have to actually pay someone for fitness advice and motivation. That's CRAZY! Beachbody coaches do it for free people, and they all LOVE what they do (I know I do!!). Make a decision that can change your life for the BETTER. Only, and only--if YOU want to.

YOU'RE INVITED TO THE PARTY! WOOT!

Haha, gotta love that title. Who doesn't want to be invited to a party? Well, the party I'm talking about is The Beachbody Revolution that is EXPLODING right now! Want to be apart of the party? You can get in SHAPE AND GET HEALTHY (I can help with that) and/or you can be A COACH! (I can help with that too!) We have a great team of coaches here, and you can sign up on this page. We plan to take this team to the next level of coaching, and let me tell you-it's getting to that level already. Our next goal as part of this coaching team is to ALL meet at the next Summit in Hollywood next year-and if you sign up now-you can be well on your way by then on being successful at what you/we do! Let's DO THIS! If you want to help people by sharing your personal fit story, or be a coach and start your fit journey at the same time (because people are inspired by that too!) Sign up! Get yourself healthy-and at the same time-get others healthy. Also at the same time-get financially rewarded as well (which is DEFINITELY not the only/most important reward!). People right now are dying to be healthy. Think about that for a moment. They look in the mirror every day and analyze their bodies, seeing something they don't like. Or they might eat alot of fast food, and feel this horrible guilt afterwards. They just don't know what to do. Or it might be something more serious. They can be physically suffering from ailments like diabetes, joint pain, heart problems, or depression..from being overweight. Do you have friends like that? Do you have a whole community like that around you? YOU can help change that. Wouldn't it be an amazing thing to help someone in that way? THAT, my friends, IS the reward. THAT is why Beachbody coaches are among the happiest, most life-fulfilled people that I know. To them (and me!) they have the best job in the world. It doesn't stay in one spot. There is always room for advancement, and you never get laid off! It gets better, and better, and better. Sign up to be to be fit and sign up to be a coach. TODAY is the day.

**Remember, coaches get 25% off all products, and Beachbody Club members receive 10% off!**

Naps on weekends...

Are totally acceptable. I sometimes feel that just because it's nice weather outside, I'm somewhat contractually obligated to go out and play. But, this is Charleston, and I know I'll have many more Sunny days this summer ahead of me. So, as the Bean household naps, I am writing you this blog, and then I'll probably take a nap afterwards myself. :)

My workout today is Kenpo Cardio Plus. KenPo on crack. Woohoo! I'm excited for it. After that workout, week 1 of P90X+ will be done.

That was a tough week!

One thing that I notice right away after 1 week of this though, is that pullups are just getting SO much easier for me, because they are incorporated in EVERY workout (except intervals and kenpo). My arms are definitely more muscular and my mid section is much more tight. I have not weighed myself, though I don't think I lost any, since my clothes fit somewhat the same; they don't feel "looser," they just hang differently on my hips, which probably means I lost an inch somewhere. I'm not a big scale person. I'll weigh myself occasionally if I see one around, but it's not a daily thing, which I think more people need to adopt. Especially if they are doing programs such as P90X. Daily weighers' will get frustrated because of the many fluctuations that occur, i.e. building muscle, losing fat, then building more muscle..you get the idea. I would recommend monthly weigh-ins, or weekly..if you just can't resist.

Off to take a much needed nap, then I'm going to rock some KenPo Cardio +!! :) Have a great, blessed Saturday!

If you want to lose weight faster...

Do your cardio in the AM BEFORE breakfast.

Yes, it will not feel the greatest in the beginning, but you'll get used to it.

All night your body is in a fast, beginning when you stop eating after 8 pm..all night long your body is using stored body fat for energy (yes, there is energy spent while sleeping). When you put cardio on top of that before your first meal, it just torches fat. And on top of all that, your metabolism will be humming for the rest of the day. Your cardio can consist of whatever you want. I preferably like to do my CardioX or KenpoX cd since I'm doing P90X..but it can also consist of a jog. The point is to get moving before that first meal. Try it for a week, 3 of those mornings being cardio. You can still do your strength training later in the day. I gaurauntee that more "poundage" will be shed.

It all goes back to how much you want to invest in your body and health. Diligence and hard work are the only thing that's going to get you back into your pre-pregnancy jeans, that hot bikini, or whatever you have in mind. Keep your eyes on the prize.
