Verticle Vom

Nope it didn't happen. I didn't vomit, but I was scarily close to it. And after looking at this, I might now:
Do you think he's sexy? barf.

So, yesterday I didn't quite keep up with a "clean" eating day. Hey, it's summer practically in Charleston already. And that means boating, going to the pool and drinking alot of adult beverages. Hydration pretty much goes out the window. I'm working on that, but it's tough. I felt it today when I did Verticle Plyo. I'm getting more "used" to the workouts, and I see changes in my body only after 2 weeks. But, I know that they could be better if I cleaned things up a bit, diet wise. I work alot with the 80/20 rule-I eat clean 80% of the time, and 20%-I do whatever the heck I want. I save that 20 for things like birthday parties, pool parties, and boat days. And there's alot of that in the Summer. Hence my struggle. Well, we all have our vices-and that's mine! I find that coconut water helps a TON with hydration if I didn't do so good on a particular day, and also taking my BCAAS and L-Glutamine; pre and post workout. They are amino acids and aid in performance, repair, and recovery. I add that to my Results and Recovery drink post workout, and take more pre workout, in capsule form. It helps ALOT, and I'm not going to post why-because it's really science-y and I barely understand it myself-let alone try to explain it to the 2 people that read this blog. Also, a high fiber diet helps with just-everything...and not just pooping on the daily. I can give you good websites though to learn, and to purchase to improve your quality of life.

www.bodybuilding.com <--great articles to learn about EVERYTHING fitness related, and a store to buy supplements-such as L-Glutamine and BCAAS.

www.barndadnutrition.com <---FIBER. It's a different kind of fiber that's just better than the rest. Helps with weight management, controls hunger, and helps with keeping your cholesterol in check. They also have these KILLER biscotti fiber cookies-OH SO GOOD!

www.beachbodycoach.com/demibean <--Results and Recovery Drink. Great for hydration and awesome for post workout feel good vibes.

www.anglefoods.com <--Kurt Angle developed a food line that includes DELICIOUS healthy frozen pizzas that are high in fiber and protein. They make me smile times a million.

So you see there is a balance you need to find. I *think* I found mine. But it's ALWAYS a daily decision, and NOT always easy. Do you want to get fitter? Or Fatter? Or shorten your lifespan? Pass good lifestyle choices to your kids, family, and friends? Does that sound good to you? I hope so.

HAPPY BIRFDAY ISABEL GRACE. SHE'S 3!!!

Perfection. Is it too much to ask for?

*Prenote-NEVER google image search "perfection." You will end up with gems like the above and uhmmm...some other stuff that may burn your retinas.*

Anyway-every day-we wake up, and for the most part, we are determined to have a great day. We have hopes of being productive, good work put in, make some cash money, have a good hair day..ya know, that kind of thing. I always, ALWAYS dream about the workout I'm going to do right before I wake up. Wierd, no? It's my quest to have the perfect body (for me). How vein is that? I want to be the healthiest, most ripped female specimen out there. Not like steroid ripped-but just muscular and feminine. And I know that shiz can disappear right quick if you don't put in your workouts and healthy eating in on the daily. The mental thought process of any athlete, fitness competitor, model, etc....I find we all think very alike. It's a blessing, but also a bit of a curse. I mean, this is my LIVING-I am a fitness coach that HAS to lead by example! Sometimes it can get squirrly. I mean, we all have our days when we don't feel like doing shit. But we have to, we press forward, press PLAY, and do the thing. And I never regret it afterwards. It makes me a better mom, better wifey, and a better friend. It's my daily coffee. And I don't even drink coffee. But you know how batshit crazy coffee drinkers get when they don't have their morning cup of jo? THAT'S how I am if I don't work out and have a day of healthy eating. When I have a good solid month of clean eating and strong workouts-I feel like I can conquer the world. There really is no better feeling than that.

sometimes vein and superficial, but not always-Demi

It is NOT all about the LB's...

But I weighed myself for the first time in FOREVER, and I am now 120 lbs, still hovering at 8-9 % bodyfat (calipers), and I feel GREAT! I thought I was really around 125-130, just because of the muscle. I think P90X+ has really "shredded" things up a bit and made my stubborn body fat in certain places finally go away, which is great! I'm stoked that the bodyfat % has stayed the same, because that is all that matters! I have been as low at 6 % before (heLLO, I was in the Marines!) for a steady 4 years, and I felt really great, and I loved how my body looked. So I am pretty much in my happy place! :)

If you want to be in your "happy place," I or my husband CAN help you get there. We live in a day where you have to actually pay someone for fitness advice and motivation. That's CRAZY! Beachbody coaches do it for free people, and they all LOVE what they do (I know I do!!). Make a decision that can change your life for the BETTER. Only, and only--if YOU want to.

Are you eating enough? Get real with yourself.

And what are you eating? Do you look at food as fuel, or something that just tastes good at the moment? If you are eating nutritious food, you have to make sure you are eating enough, ESPECIALLY if you are doing an extreme program from Beachbody like P90X. The nutritional plan is there for a reason, and sometimes people just can't understand why they say to eat so much, and then they don't eat enough. Then, they wonder why they don't get the results they want. If your body is working HARD, you need calories to keep up-so you can POUR everything you got into your workouts for one, and so your body does not go into "famine" mode, where it holds on to every calorie you consume. If you are getting a steady flow of nutritious calories, drinking enough water, not drinking alot of alcohol..your body will naturally just release those unwanted LB's and pack on that glorious muscle. If you are the type of person that just wants to be skinny and no muscle-than don't eat. If you actually want to have some sort of healthy body, than follow your nutrition guide and workout! It's simple really. Eat good, exercise regularly, drink your water, and sleep good=FORMULA FOR SUCCESS. Take your rest day and enjoy it-1 cheat meal won't throw you off track. But listen here, it's A cheat MEAL, not cheat day! Use your brain. Yeah, it's tough love, but it's the tough love that will change your life for the better. If all you do is whine about your weight and don't do anything about it...well P90X and Beachbody programs are not for you. Inherited diseases will be in your future and you will feel like sh*t. Is that what you want? I sure as heck hope not. You don't want to do it alone-you want to have that "someone" who encourages you and gives you a swift kick in the a$$ when necessary. Easily offended people need not apply. "Nobody said this was easy!" is almost an understatement. Get real with yourself. You may not be 19 anymore, but you can feel better than you did when you were 19, I promise you that. Beachbody has an amazing system of "coaches" that are there to help you along your journey, and answer all your questions, motivate you, and do whatever it takes to make sure you are successful. As I always say to all my clients: "Your success is my success, so we WILL make this work." My own MOTHER is doing Slim in 6 at 63 years old..already lost 8 lbs and actually has a cute little tummy now! I don't see any reason for lame excuses when I see my own mother at 63 work so hard and have amazing results.

So, what are you going to do about it? Have a pity party? Or DO something that will give you what you want. NO, it's not easy. You have to make sacrifices. But in the end, YOU will be a happier, healthier person for it. That is a priceless thing my friends. Myself and my husband are coaches and we can help you. But only if you are ready to help yourself. Use your brain, and make the right choice today.

Fatburners

First off: I know this might step on toes because alot of people may be mis-informed, or know of someone that may have abused them. BUT, when used properly WITH, I repeat, WITH a diet and sound nutrition plan-they CAN be beneficial. Are they for everyone, NO! Are they for some people, YES. Some can react beautifully to them, when they use them as directed with exercise and clean eating. There are some fatburners with no stimulants if that's not your thing. Keep in mind the one with stimulants are usually equivalent to 2 cups of coffee. I know people that start the day with WAY more than that. Also, you MUST cycle your fatburners. You can't take them every day for the rest of your life. It's usually 3 weeks on, 1 week off, at the very most. And usually only before cardio workouts. So, if used properly, you should only take them 2-3 times a week, and ALWAYS assess your tolerance to them. Meaning, you should always start with the lowest dose, and see how you react. I've been taking fatburners for years off and on, and they give me great results (with clean eating, protein supplementation, creatine, and working out), and I always take half the dose recommended. But, that's just me, and how I like to do things. However, I do agree the marketing for Hydroxycut and others is very misinforming, like all you have to do is take a pill and lose weight. I wish they could/would change that.

Yes, the FDA has recalled Hydroxycut-and it's receiving bad rap all over the place. You will see on other supplements that you take..shakeology, slimming formula, even some vitamins, "this product has not been approved by the FDA." Which means that every day, they are trying to wipe out all these products. It takes A LONG time for this to happen, which is why you have only seen hydroxycut get the ax lately. Let it be known, they are going after all the products you know and love too, even protein shakes. CRAZY?! Yes, it is. I know people that take fatburners all day, no working out, eat crap food, sit at a desk all day and pop pills to try to curb their appetite. This, my friends, IS NOT THE WAY TO DO IT. You will see in the doubles program of P90X that they recommend doing CardioX on an empty stomach in the AM. When I was training for a figure competition years ago, it was just a common and safe thing to take a fatburner in the AM, empty belly, and do 20 minutes of cardio, then do weights in the PM. It's a great strategy for quicker weight loss, and I know that from first hand experience, and it's been YEARS of success on my part.

So that's my opinion, take it as you want, it's just my experience and knowledge on the "hot topic" right now in the fitness industry.

Day 2 of the "Demi" sleep training method...

She did SO much better!! (Isabel)

She went down after her bath evening routine, and after her nighttime bottle, she passed out in my arms. I layed her in the crib, and she was fine, didn't wake up 5 minutes later or anything.

Then came 2 am. She woke up, and starting crying. It wasn't her usual "screaming, I'm freaking out" crying, but more of the "half crying, wining, I just woke up and I want to let you know" kind of thing. Jason immediately was like, "I'll go get her tonight." I told him to just wait a minute. After 30 SECONDS, she went back to sleep, ON HER OWN. Praise the LORD!

Then came 3 am. See above for what she did. Exactly the same thing.

Then she woke up AT 630 AM! That's amazing for her, and for everyone in this household. Her usual wakeup time is 430 am, so it was really nice. I was more tired this morning though, I think I was just still so tired from the night before, I NEEDED an extra hour of sleep or else I was going to lose my ever loving mind. So Jason offered to take Isabel to my parent's house (they live 1/2 mile away) so I could sleep in a bit and do my workout stressfree this morning. I feel SO much better, and I'm looking forward to doing "Total Body Plus" without the stress of her waking up in the middle of her morning nap. Not complaining or anything, LOVE being her mommy, and everything that goes along with it, but every now and then, a little quiet and stillness is nice. I plan to also have some awesome QT with my man Jesus in this solitude afterwards, then go get my precious bundle and enjoy the day.

It's amazing how every day is so different. You never know what is going to happen, or how things are going to change, so I'm learning to be more flexible, and more appreciative of the people in my life. "Go with the Flow" is the new motto for the Bean Household. :)

Total Body +...and bank balances

I am SO looking forward to this workout, it hits EVERYTHING, fast paced, and sweaty, just like 'real' workouts should be!

Whenever I think of doing my workouts, I always think of it like 'putting money in the bank.' Every time we do something for our bodies, that account balance adds up, eventually equaling big time returns. When we eat unhealthy food, I always think of it like I'm taking alot of money out of my "fitness" bank. We don't ever want that to happen, right?! Eventually, as we plateau, our fitness bank will as well. And that's fine and dandy if you are happy with that. But if you are frustrated, you need to start putting some major deposits in, AKA-Change it up, and work harder! Before you know it, you'll have more than you can possibly need, and that balance just spills out into all areas of your life-like your friends, family, and that occasional cheat meal. Everyone benefits, everyone wins. With just one person taking that step to better personal health.

What's your fitness account balance today?

Holy..mother..of Mary..OMG!

I did PLYOMETRICS today.

Holy crap. That sh*t is HARD!!

There were so many times I almost gave up, but I didn't, and I'm glad I didn't. My butt and legs ARE SORE as crap, and so is my midsection. So that's good. I'm a sucker for soreness...I know I did the work I needed to. Twisted? Yeah, pretty much.

P90X is pretty much for crazy people.

I'm a perfect candidate!

Thursday, December 4, 2008

Yup, I'm sore. And somewhat retarded.

OK. I really need to learn to pace myself. I did 3 dvd's out of the P90X box today. 3 of them.

Jason was watching me do CardioX and just shaking his head, "you know you are gonna be hurtin tomorrow." And I'm like all sweaty telling him, "just shut up, I'm gonna be fine!" Isabel and Alana just stared at me, I know too, quietly giggling to themselves.

Well, hopefully I'll be ok enough to continue on. I'm sure I will. I know sore like it's no one's business so I will keep at it no matter what!
