Wowzers

Isabel FINALLY went down for her nap. Singular. This morning she decided that she did not want to take a nap. Oh, how I tried to encourage the nap this morning. But NO, she was not having it. I knew I would be paying for it later but I took her out and we played while she was bright eyed and bushy tailed. So weird. She does have a bit of a cold I think so maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe this current nap will extra long and I can finish my cleaning and laundry. That would be wonderful!

Cleaning and tidiness relaxes me. I love the feeling of going to bed at night, that the house is clean, dishes are in the dishwasher and being washed, laundry is always at a continual state, and the baseboards are clean. It makes me feel warm inside. I especially love sanitizing everything. Especially toys. I know the next time Isa puts one of her toys in her mouth that it is 99.9% germ free. That's good to know. I know I probably don't get everything, but again, it still makes me warm inside that I Lysol all the door knobs and light switches, and other "hand" popular spots. Hey, you can catch all kinds of nasties from places like that. OCD-no, trust me on that. I just really enjoy keeping house. Hey, it's my job! Why not be good at it?

Best day eva

Today was simply perfect. My hubby and a friend of his (whose wife is pregnant too, same due date as me) were planning to go golfing today. Instead, they cancelled golfing and decided to take us preggos for a little day of pampering with manicures and pedicures. It was EXACTLY what I needed! And for a little extra fun bonus, they had a charleston rick-shaw pick us up from the nail salon to take us back to the house. It was fun, and the weather was perfect. We told the driver to go over every pothole and if he got us to pop out a baby tonight, we would hunt him down and give him a big fat tip. He certaintly obliged-but no babies yet so we'll see! When we pulled up to the house, both of our nutty husbands were waiting for us with camcorders in hand recording us coming down the street, so funny. To top it all off, we went out to eat, then watched the movie "Baby momma," with them and another friend who joined us. Perfect day, perfect company. And when we got back to the house, 2 of our good friends Chris and Kristen dropped some great food for us to help us out after we have the baby (cuz Lord knows I will NOT be cookin a ton of food for awhile! haha!). Can it get any better that that?? Well if the baby decided to come tonight, that would make it even better! Tomorrow is her due date, so we'll see what happens. I've been having sporadic contractions, getting a little bit more painful each time..but nothing too bad. I haven't really timed anything yet. I remember with Alana I just "knew" when I had to go to the hospital, and I haven't had that feeling yet. Say a prayer for baby Isabel to come soon so we don't have to induce next week! I would love nothing more than for this babe to come into this world on her own timetable, and let her and my body decide when her birthday will be. I know no matter what, it will all work out though, all that matters is a healthy baby and mom-and I know God will give me that. :)

Thought this was cute

I, Demi, am formally evicting you, the child, from my womb, effective as soon as possible, preferrably by Saturday, as rent is due on the first and the premises will need to be vacated before then as I shall not be accepting any more illness and discomfort as payment. As this has been a week to week lease, I hope you will have no problems accomidating the wishes of me, the landlord. Futhermore, if you are not out by the first week of May, I will be forced to look in to measures to forcefully remove you from the premises in accordance with all recognized safe medical practices. If you have any questions or concerns, please present yourself face to face in person by exiting the womb so that we can discuss them. I appreciate the time you have chosen my body as a residency, and I will give you a good reference as you transition to the next phase of your life. Sincerely, Demi. (your mother)

37 weeks! FULL TERM-wooohoo!

So this is what baby Isabel looks like right now! Wierd of me to post, I know, but I thought you could use a visual. Isn't this amazing?! It says on babycenter.com that she is "ready for life outside the womb." WHOA. I just can't believe it's been 9 months already. All these seasons have just flown by, and now my body is preparing itself to do what God designed it to do-to be fruitful and multiply! There is nothing that will make you feel more like a woman than pushing a baby into this world, and even though it hurts (OOOOUCH!) it's all worth it in the end. So as baby Isabel gets ready to begin her life with us, I hope you all will pray that she will be born healthy, and most importantly to have a hunger to know her Creator as she grows. Love you all :)

Irritable Uterus

I heard that phrase a couple times last night. Let me tell you what happened.

Right around 9pm, while watching American Idol, I started having pretty painful contractions. I've been having Braxton Hicks for awhile now, but they were never painsful. These bad boys though definetely took my breath away and I couldn't talk through them. I started to time them. They were pretty sporadic but on average were coming every 10 minutes. I called the dr, who told me to immediately come in so he can have a look.

When I get there, I have lots of "fun" exams done to my hoo ha, (catheters anyone??), and pretty much everyone in labor and delivery has been exploring in this area. Good times. I wait. and wait. and wait. So 730 am, the dr comes in and tells me that I was dehydrated, hence why they kept me on iv fluids all night, and all my tests came back with good results. Great news! Isabel will NOT be making an early appearence after all. I'm only 25 weeks pregnant, so giving birth at this stage would not be a good thing whatsoever. The doctors reacted quickly, like something out of a high drama medical show, and I am very grateful for that.

I am stuck today in bed, with orders from the doc to take it easy for a couple days. I will not fight that, because I am VERY tired. Sleep is a wonderful healer of sorts.

Things I learned:

-Isabel is a fighter. In that she does NOT like the monitoring belts they strap on you. She kept kicking them off all night, sending the sweet L and D nurses into a tizzy trying to get a heartbeat on her. She was straight up MAD at these constricting things all up on her uterine home, and she definetely let us know how unhappy she was about the situation. Fun hearing her loud heartbeat and her kicks in the monitor though.

-always bring earplugs to the ER. You never know how long you are going to be there. And if you end up spending the night, and you want to have any rests, it's the only way to go. I wanted to throw my IV pump across the room with the constant cranking sound it was making.

-Drink water like it's going out of style. Next time I have any exams done to me like they did, I want to be actually pushing a baby out in the next day or 2. So no more preterm labor for me please.

So I am going back to bed for my second long nap of the day. I hope you are doing wonderfully and I will write again soon when I feel less like a sleepless zombie.
