KenPo CardioX

One word.

WOW. That was hard. No more handweights or ankle weights needed for KenPo!
It was all new moves, new routines, and water breaks?? Yeah right! During supposed "breaks" we are still doing jumping jacks, twisters,..all kinds of stuff. And we do this move that's called the "Gladiator"...think Jackie Chan type move, with a jumping kick plyometric kind of thing. Very fun..but very HARD! It's only 42 minutes, but I was SWEATING like crazy!

Good stuff!

Variety is the spice of Life!

I have Yoga scheduled today, and I'll do that later. I just wanted to add something else to the mix.

I had mentioned previously that during my last KenpoX workout, I didn't sweat at all, and I was going double time, and I felt like I didn't workout at the end. I mentioned this to Brad, and he recommended that I add handweights to the mix. So, I added 3 lb handweights and 2 lb ankleweights today.

Let me tell you-it was almost right up there with PLYO. I sweated like a MUTHA and I felt every jab, uppercut, and kick with an intensity that was AWESOME. I know I will feel this workout tomorrow! And, I am looking forward to my last recovery week, which means Core Synergistics tomorrow-my favorite!

P.S. If you do decide to do this, I wouldn't do it until Phase 2 and beyond. When Tony Horton says "Don't bang the joints", you REALLY have to be careful when there are weights involved. The reason why you sweat so much more with light weights in Kenpo, is not only because of the weights, but because of the control that is needed to NOT bang the joints. If you don't control the weights during all your kicks and punches, momentum will take over and you could risk an injury of somesort. So, use your brain and be careful. :)

Happy Friday!!

If you want to lose weight faster...

Do your cardio in the AM BEFORE breakfast.

Yes, it will not feel the greatest in the beginning, but you'll get used to it.

All night your body is in a fast, beginning when you stop eating after 8 pm..all night long your body is using stored body fat for energy (yes, there is energy spent while sleeping). When you put cardio on top of that before your first meal, it just torches fat. And on top of all that, your metabolism will be humming for the rest of the day. Your cardio can consist of whatever you want. I preferably like to do my CardioX or KenpoX cd since I'm doing P90X..but it can also consist of a jog. The point is to get moving before that first meal. Try it for a week, 3 of those mornings being cardio. You can still do your strength training later in the day. I gaurauntee that more "poundage" will be shed.

It all goes back to how much you want to invest in your body and health. Diligence and hard work are the only thing that's going to get you back into your pre-pregnancy jeans, that hot bikini, or whatever you have in mind. Keep your eyes on the prize.
