Train Hard. Train Smart.

What does this mean?

It means:

TRAIN HARD:
-exactly that-get your mind right, and leave it all on the mat, road, bike, whatever you are doing.
-be consistent. Know that there is muscle memory, not aerobic memory. You really want to keep these 2 components UP. Aerobic memory diminishes at a incredible speed, while muscle memory is really stubborn, which is a GREAT thing! As you are more consistent-it will become more of a habit, more of a lifestyle.
-Stop looking at it as "working out." You ARE an ATHLETE. Call it TRAINING. Every time you train, consider it yourself putting money in the bank. As healthcare prices soar, we really need to be mindful of our bodies and our health. It's an investment not only in ourselves-but in our wallets.

TRAIN SMART:
-Take care of your body from the inside out. What does this mean? It means using good, healthy supplementation. I.E. Daily multivitamins, recovery drinks, protein shakes, fish oil, detox, etc.
-Don't work a body part 2 days in a row.
-When you have an injury-it doesn't mean to stop working out altogether. It means to work around it. Be smart.
-Get your nightly rest and keep alcohol intake to a minimum.
-Eat clean, healthy, nutritious foods. Think: fruits, veggies, nuts, and a protein source.
-Drink enough water.
-HAVE A GOAL IN YOUR TRAINING. Short term goals and long term goals. Goals never end. They last a lifetime. Keep setting them if you want to be fit forever.
-HAVE BALANCE. A happy life means having balance in all that you do. Your faith, your families, friends...they all have a place in your "circle." So does your health and fitness. Make your health a top priority and you will be able to take care of that circle.
