Cooper River Bridge Run Quick Update:

I ran the 10K in 58:26 (when I crossed the finished line, so it will probably be a bit shorter, since it took us a little bit to get the starting line!) It was very therapeutic for me, and I just told myself it was not about time, but about enjoying the race. So I tuned out to my Ipod and jammed in my head for the whole race, instead of weaving in and out of people trying to get a good time. Jason said it didn't even look like I ran afterwards, because I wasn't even sweating! He said I sweat more during P90X, too funny. I was proud of myself for not stopping to walk at all, not even once during that horrendous incline!

Jason ran the 10K in 51 minutes-He was a little discouraged, because last year he ran it in 50 minutes-but there was just SO many people participating in the event, it was so hard to get around everyone. There was over 38,000 people competing!! A record for Charleston!

OK-time for a nap-it's tradition after a race, from waking up so early, and going through the paces of racetime..it's a little exhausting!! I hope you all had a great day!!

WAY TO GO!!! I have no idea about running times so your times sound GREAT to me!! That's so awesome that you two did it together and I hope Jeremy and I can do the same one day. He went out for a run this morning and came back looking bad so now I'm scared!

Congrats Demi!!! That is great time IMO. I'm running a 5K (my first race ever) on the 18th and I'm sorta stoked that I'll be running with girlfriends...but I actually think it might be easier if I could just tune out everything, jam to my music and go strong and steady like you did. Talking is a major distraction for me during work outs. Maybe it'll help though...to keep my mind of of the running. I don't know. Anyway..I can't ditch my buddies...so I'll just have to see how it goes! 38,000 people??!!! WOWOWOW~! Now is the time...people are finally realizing being fit is so much more than being THIN. :o)

Thanks guys/gals! Jen-I've always used music as a motivator and studies show that music really does improve performance substantially, during any endurance exercise, especially races. It's all up to you! For the 10K-there was no way I was going to talk-my "mantra" was "settle in, tune out, and focus." There was even times that I forgot I was running because I was so "zenned" out! crazy. Play with it, if you find yourself getting winded chatting with your friends-then kindly excuse yourself for a minute to tune out on your ipod or mp3 player. After running a couple races, you'll find out what works for you, and I'm sure you'll do great! :)
